This was back to back home games in the league for Leeds and they were still looking for their first win against Watford who have started the season OK, so was the day Leeds got their 1st win of the season in the league?

Leeds started this game in the bottom three, but could they get out of it by fulltime?

It was played at a rainy Elland Road as it was raining everywhere on Saturday.

After 8 minutes,  Raphinha’s left footed shot outside the box was blocked, and James had a right footed shot outside the box blocked.

Two minutes later, Dallas had a left footed shot from outside the box saved in bottom right corner.

After 17 minutes, Dallas’ right footed shot outside the box was high and wide to the right.

1st Leeds goal

A minute later, Leeds were deservedly ahead after a LLorente right footed shot from close range went into the bottom right corner.  A minute later, Kucka’s right footed shot outside the box was blocked for Watford, then Leeds had a counter attack and James got pulled back in the penalty area, but the referee said no penalty.

At the midway point of the 1st half, Klich’s right footed shot from outside the box was saved.

Three minutes later, Dallas had a left footed shot from the centre of the box was blocked. Then a couple of minutes later, Raphinha had a left footed shot from a difficult angle on the left missed to the left.

Just after the half hour, Raphinha had a header from centre of the box which missed to the right.

After 39 minutes, Raphinha’s left footed shot from outside the box was high and wide to the left.

Three minutes later, Klich’s right footed shot from right side of the box was just too high.

On the stroke of halftime, Sarr had a rare effort for Watford as he had a left footed shot from the right of the box but it went high and wide to the left.

In the 2nd minute of stoppage time, Rodrigo had a header from centre of the box which missed to the right.

So it was a dominant 1st half from Leeds, but they hadn’t got the 2nd goal which would have killed this game off, and they were leading at halftime last week and lost, so could they get the 2nd in the 2nd half?

After 47 minutes, Dallas had a right footed shot from centre of the box which was blocked.  Then Raphinha had a left footed shot from outside the box which went too high.

Three minutes later, James had a right footed shot from the left side of the box was blocked.

Just before the hour, the Leeds dominance continued as Dallas had a left footed shot from outside the box but it went too high.

After 65 minutes, Rodrigo’s left footed shot from outside the box was blocked.

With just under 20 minutes left, Dennis had a right footed shot from the right side of the 6 yard box saved.

Four minutes later, Shackleton had a right footed shot outside the box but it went high and wide to the right.

With two minutes remaining, Roberts had a right footed shot from centre of the box was blocked, then he hit the bar with a right footed shot from the right side of the box.

In the 2nd minute of stoppage time, Pedro had a right footed shot outside the box blocked.

Fulltime score:  Leeds United 1-0 Watford

It perhaps should have been by a bigger margin but Leeds United finally won their 1st Premier League game this season at the 7th attempt.

It took Leeds up to 16th in the table.

Next for Leeds after this latest international break is an away trip to Southampton who are one of 4 teams now without a win this season on Saturday 16th October 3pm kickoff.
