The Super League is the top division of rugby league in England, and it currently has 11 teams from England and one from France. It began in 1996 and there has only ever been 4 winners of it:
St Helens, Leeds Rhinos, Wigan Warriors and Bradford Bulls.
The Grand Final is generally in October and is generally at Old Trafford Manchester.
Now, Featherstone Rovers missed out in 1998 after they lost to Wakefield and ever since have been out of the top flight, and from 2014 until now they’ve tried and failed to get into Super League.
I think it would mean a lot to both the club and the supporters if they do manage to gain promotion this year with it being their centenary year, but only one team stands in their way and that is Toulouse.
I also think there would be some benefits of them being a Super League team: they’d be able to become a full-time team hopefully without going bust, they’d be able to get more money and they’d be on TV loads more and their ground is Super League quality. The negatives I suppose might be: would they be able to change from part-time to fulltime, would they be able to afford the wages
I would also be happy to see them have a crack at Super League after 23 years out of it, even though I’ve only been a supporter for a few years I understand the passion for the club, and the passion for where they feel they belong, and yeah they might come straight back down, but at least they will have had an experience of Super League rather than playing the same old teams year after year in the Championship.
