The iconic hit, Priscilla Queen Of The Desert, is set to shake Leeds audiences’ groove thing when it returned to Leeds Grand Theatre from Tuesday 6 to Saturday 10 July for seven socially distanced performances.
Boasting more glitter than ever before, and a dazzling array of stunning costumes, fabulous feathers and a non-stop parade of dance-floor classics, including It’s Raining Men, I Will Survive and Finally, Priscilla is the hilarious adventure of three friends who hop aboard a battered old bus bound for Alice Springs to put on the show of a lifetime. Their epic journey is a heart-warming story of self-discovery, sassiness and acceptance.
Based on the Oscar-winning film, this brand-new production is produced by Mark Goucher, and for the first time, Jason Donovan, having performed in the cast of the original West End production and two subsequent UK tours. Miles Western will take on the role of Bernadette, with Nick Hayes as Adam/Felicia and Edwin Ray playing Tick/Mitzi.
Goucher’s independent producing company is able to tour Priscilla Queen Of The Desert with the support of the UK government’s Cultural Recovery Fund.

Daniel Fletcher (Bob), Rebecca Lisewski (Marion), Kevin Yates (Miss Understanding), Gracie Lai (Cynthia) and Ronan Burns (Frank). The Divas will be played by Claudia Kariuki, Rosie Glossop and Aiesha Pease, and the cast is completed by Emma Katie Adcock, Jak Allen Anderson, Allie Daniel, Martin Harding, Clarice Julianda, Jemima Loddy, Nathan Ryles, Tom Scanlon and Jermaine Woods.
Leeds Grand Theatre
Leeds Grand Theatre is part of Leeds Heritage Theatres, alongside City Varieties Music Hall and Hyde Park Picture House.
Built in 1878 by architect George Corson, Leeds Grand Theatre is a major milestone in Victorian design; famed for its sumptuous interior, plasterwork and other decorative features.
Seating 1466 at full capacity, the auditorium provides a home for performances of all types, including its resident companies Opera North and Northern Ballet. Since its Heritage Lottery Fund and Arts Council supported ‘transformation’ in 2006, the theatre has hosted the best of the West End and other touring productions, including large musicals, drama from the National Theatre, comedians and music. The theatre played host to the world premieres of Gary Barlow and Tim Firth’s, The Girls (2015), and Kay Mellor’s Fat Friends The Musical (2017) and Band of Gold (2019).

Our learning and engagement programme – including our Youth Theatre, curriculum-linked schools’ workshops and training provision of placements and apprenticeships – enables young people from across the city to access the arts, be creative, build confidence and develop skills using the rich resources of our heritage venues.
