As the Queen marks her record 70 years reign, events across Yorkshire are taking place throughout the four days of celebrations (from June 2 – 5).
The Queen’s representatives across Yorkshire have claimed that a surge in community spirit throughout the past two years will play an integral role in a host of celebrations to mark the monarch’s reign.
Here’s where you can celebrate near you in West, South and East Yorkshire.
West Yorkshire
The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee at Pontefract Castle and Coronation Gardens
There is a two day event at Pontefract Castle on Thursday 2nd June which is from 2pm until 10pm and Friday 3rd June from 10am to 4pm.
Thursday’s event will culminate with the lighting of the Jubilee Beacon at 9.45pm by the Mayor of Wakefield, as part of the national beacon lighting programme.
There is the lighting of the flame followed by a short firework display on the Thursday.
There is also workshops for families on both days, along with a host of other activities too.

Middleton Park Platinum Jubilee Extravaganza
Sunday 5th June 2022
Celebrate 70 years of Queen’s Speeches through music and dance, which includes everything from classical Indian dance to old-fashioned hopscotch, and also features the Balbir Singh Dance Company, Hamara and Tetley dance groups and the Corpus Christi Brass Band.

KEIGHLEY TRANSPORT FESTIVAL
Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, 2nd – 3rd June
The town of Keighley will be buzzing as it celebrates with a whole range t of transport-related events. You can expect to see the unexpected alongside classic cars, buses, steam trains, motorbikes and more. As part of a town-wide celebration of transport, the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway will be running a double steam service on Thursday 2nd June & Friday 3rd June to coincide with the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee holiday. A free family festival not to be missed, with street theatre, music, food, and activities.
BEER FESTIVAL
Ossett Town Hall, 3rd – 4th June
If you like your beer, go along to Ossett Town Hall which will welcome its famous Beer Festival on Friday 3 and Saturday 4 June from 7–11pm. a range of beers and ciders will be available, with alternatives for those who don’t drink beer. Bar snacks can be purchased from Cinta in the town hall. During the day on Saturday, a Beer Cart Procession will begin from 10.30am with Morris dancing in the town centre from 11am plus rides, food & craft market from 10am-4pm.
“The Big Jubilee Lunch” at St Swithun’s
Join us for the ‘The Big Jubilee Lunch’ taking place at The St Swithun’s Centre on
Thursday 2nd June 1.00pm – 3.00pm.
The occasion will be a great opportunity to bring our neighbours and community together to celebrate The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend. It’s a free event and everyone is invited!
There will be lots of fun and interactive activities taking place, such as a Treasure Hunt and other exciting outdoor games and activities. Inside we will have crafts, Platinum Jubilee Bingo, music, a raffle, free food and refreshments and much more. There will be something for everyone to enjoy.
We are asking our community to join in the celebrations and to bring their favourite dishes and share food, happiness and fun with us.
There is a Garden Jubilee Jam at the Art House on Drury Lane, Wakefield on Saturday 4th June 2022 from 2-4pm and it’s a free event where everyone is welcome. Jane McDonald and Special Guests
Jane McDonald will be appearing at the Open Air Theatre in Scarborough to celebrate the Jubilee. Yorkshire’s own singing star will take to the stage with a host of special guests for an unforgettable evening.

If you like to look round fairs and enjoy food, then this is the activity for you as the York Spring Fair and Food festival returns to York for a 2nd year, with ten days of funfair, food and entertainment being planned, which includes the lighting of York’s Jubilee Beacon.

Ingleton Village Celebrations

There is a large amount of events over the four day weekend in Ingleton which include things like: a village picnic, a parade for the platinum pageant, service of thanksgiving event and Trooping the Colour being televised on big screen.

River Ouse Platinum Jubilee Afternoon Tea Cruise
Thursday 2nd – Sunday 5th June
