Events at the Ridings to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Thursday 2nd-Sunday 5th June 2022

Over the long special bank holiday weekend we have just had, there were activities at the Ridings to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

With the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee  marking 70 years on the throne, the Ridings Shopping Centre in Wakefield will be hosting  a range of free events and they kick off with a FREE street party on Thursday  2nd June 2022 with:

An event from 11am to 2pm with a light Packed lunch available from 11am, Tea Coffee and Cakes*

Free Jubilee Cup Cake courtesy of The Baking Fairy

Free commemorative souvenir*

You can sing along with Karen Clegg and 5 Towns Radio DJ Simon Haigh with his mix of popular tracks from all era’s – guaranteed to get you on your feet and dance

The event will be on the Middle Mall of the Ridings. 

Come along and help celebrate this momentous occasion.

They also had some special offers such as:

You could get a hot sandwich and a hot drink for only £3.50 from Ruby Lou’s on Thursday 2nd, Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th Jun. On Thursday and Friday it was open from 10am-4pm, Saturday 10am-5pm.

You could get a scone and a hot drink from only £2.50 from Ruby Lou’s on Thursday 2nd, Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th June. Thursday and Friday it’s open from 10am-4pm and Saturday 10am-5pm.

Transform Images also had a Jubilee offer as it’s on the Lower Mall and they have a range of Platinum Jubilee Merchandise , which can be personalised and available on the same day. 

There are other activities happening in the Ridings over the 4 day weekend, and parking is only 50p on Thursday, Friday and Sunday.

On all four days there is:

Free face painting on the Upper Mall outside TK Maxx (this was also on the Saturday and Sunday)

Pop up speciality Fayre on the Upper Mall outside TK Maxx

Saturday 4th June

Wakefield Record Fayre- on the Middle Mall outside M and S
