Helmet secured, heart pounding fast and engine on as I nervously changed gear and set off on my first rally car driving experience.
The weekend Extreme Rally where you get to experience a real retired rally car took place in an off roaring site in Tong near Bradford, West Yorkshire. I haven’t been driving on the road for a good few years, let alone off roading in a rally car. But it’s something I had wanted to do for a while so “feel the fear and do it anyway,†I told myself.
I was supported by an experienced instructor who patiently guided me around my first lap of the course which involved quick turns, water and slopes.
Once I’d done one lap, I felt a little more confident to speed up as the instructor bravely sat next to me reminding me of the twists and turns to look out for.
I got to experience three laps in total and so did my partner mike who was also a first time rally car driver.
We both had a brilliant afternoon, it was the perfect way to spend a couple of hours experiencing something memorable and a total exciting bit of escapism from the “real world.†Perfect for team building, corporates, older members of families and friends.
