If you like music, then this weekend Friday 10th-Sunday 12th June there’s the Long Division music festival which puts grassroots singers and artists alongside DIY and Indie legends.
It’s on from 11:45am til 10pm and the price ranges from £1 to £30.

Pontefract Liquorice Festival – Saturday 9th-Sunday 10th July 2022
It’s sweet themed fun which celebrates Pontefract’s long association with liquorice and has something for everyone to enjoy.
On the Saturday it’s the warmup to the Sunday with fabulous, free entertainment and community events. You can also take part in a craft workshop.
The sunday is the main event as the food and drink market stretches across 4 streets , there will be something for everyone from tasty treats to quirky gifts and homeware.
There are bands on stage for music lovers, family workshops.
There is a funfair in the town centre.
It rounds off with the parade which include stilt-walkers, acrobats, flying dancers and they will make their way from town centre to Pontefract Castle for the grand finale.
There is also for the 1st time ever the Pontefract Liquorice Festival Food and Drink Trail.

Castleford Roman Festival – Saturday 18th June 2022
A day of history fuelled fun for the family.
You can explore a Roman themed market with demos and activities like roman toy making, experimenting with science and throwing pottery.
There will be a roman themed motif that will be a mosaic, there’s a guided tour by Roamn Castleford trial.
Street entertainment will keep you busy all day, and a photo booth to take photos of you dressed up.

Proms at the Castle – Saturday 9th July 2022
There is a evening of music by West Yorkshire Symphony Orchestra at Proms at the Castle. Before hand you can eat, drink and relax before a superb firework spectacle.
You can bring own chairs or rugs to sit on. Food and drink available all evening.
Gates open at 5:30pm, concert starts at 7:30pm and concludes at 10pm.
It’s a ticketed event and tickets need to be bought in advance and if there are, they will be £15 for Adults and £12.50 for children

Castleford Tigers Supporters Club Heritage Weekend– Saturday 18th-Sunday 19th June 2022
You can step back in time and learn about the history of Castleford Tigers through book, film, photos and shirts. You can view the collection of memorabilia which goes back to the very early days of the club, and a chance for Cas fans to relive moments in their Cas Tigers supporter Journey. There’ll even be memorabilia on sale.
It’s hosted by Cas Tigers Heritage Trust at Queen’s Mill and the event is free although they may ask you to buy some raffle tickets and enter competition to win a prize on both days.

There is brilliant street food, ales/beers and good vibes at this event.
Yorkshire Craft Beers will be serving ales, as well as newcomers The Thirsty Steed which serves gin, fizz and cocktails.
You can try Thai food by Thai By Mo, Pizza Box Co’s delicious pizzas and Hun Street Kitchen which will take you back to Budapest food.
There is DJ sets, acoustic music , artisan stalls, electrifying musicians from 4pm til hometime.
